Terranigma Dark Gaia Boss Guide
Beat Dark Gaia in Terranigma: prepare before the point of no return, return the first form’s light orb, use platform edges safely, and block the final form’s screen-wide beam.

The short answer: save before the Gaia Stone. In Dark Gaia's first form, stand near a platform edge and return the light orb to damage him, then strike when his body stops nearby. In the final form, block the screen-wide lightning beam with X-Guard instead of trying to outrun it.
Prepare before the point of no return
The final route does not return you to normal progression after you commit. Finish optional preparation, save, and equip the HeroPike and HeroArmr if you have them. Bring enough healing to learn the fight calmly rather than relying on a single perfect attempt.
First form: return the light orb
Dark Gaia's first form cannot be damaged freely from the start. Stay near the right or left edge to avoid the wide attacks, then hit the light orb when it reaches you so it rebounds into him. When his curled body stops close enough, use the short opening for weapon attacks before moving back to safety.
Walk or jump through Gaia's Rage rather than absorbing the beams. The thrown Magirocks are also a reason to keep moving; do not trap Ark against the centre of the platform.
Final form: block the beam
The final form can fire sparks and a beam that fills the screen. The screen-wide lightning beam is the key check: hold the guard button as it begins. X-Guard reduces the otherwise devastating repeated damage to a manageable amount, letting you keep recovery for the rest of the battle.
Attack after the beam or a spark pattern ends, then reset your position. Regular, safe weapon hits are enough; do not give up a stable block window for a risky extra attack.
After victory
The fight leads directly into the final Crysta sequence and the ending. If you want the story explained after seeing it, open Terranigma Ending Explained. Do not read that page first if you have not finished the battle.
